As with all surgical procedures, there are risks, including infection, blood loss and anesthesia-related complications. Complications specific to nerve reconstruction include pain, decreased or increased sensitivity, and impaired motor or sensory function. There is also a risk of failure of nerve regeneration. While all efforts have been made to reduce the risk of communicable
diseases, the potential for transmission of communicable diseases from human tissue cannot be entirely eliminated.
