Kongkrit Chaiyasate, MD, FACS
Kongkrit Chaiyasate, MD, FACS provides patients with state-of-the-art care at the Center of Craniofacial, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Microsurgery at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, near Detroit. With board certifications in plastic surgery and general surgery, Dr. Chaiyasate offers the latest reconstructive techniques to patients following breast cancer and mastectomy, including autologous (free flap) breast reconstruction with ReSensationSM.
Using his artistic skills and microvascular talents, Dr. Chaiyasate has performed over 500 DIEP flap breast reconstructions since 2011. He also offers other innovative flap breast reconstructions, including SIEA flap, SGAP flap, IGAP flap, and TUG flap. By incorporating ReSensation into free flap breast reconstruction surgeries, Dr. Chaiyasate offers women the potential to experience restored sensation in their reconstructed breasts.

Dr. Chaiyasate graduated with his medical degree and completed a residency in general surgery at Chiang Mai Medical School in Thailand. He completed two additional residencies in the United States: a residency in general surgery at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers, and a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Detroit Medical Centers/Wayne State University School of Medicine.
To further his training in specialized services such as craniofacial surgery and breast reconstruction for women after breast cancer treatment, Dr. Chaiyasate also completed a fellowship in craniofacial surgery and pediatric plastic surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery and DIEP flap breast reconstruction at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He has earned several additional specialty surgical certifications in microsurgery and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Chaiyasate is double board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Surgeon, and American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.
He serves as an assistant professor of plastic surgery at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and director of reconstructive microsurgery/co-director of the Ian Jackson Craniofacial & Cleft Palate Clinic at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Throughout his training and practice experience, Dr. Chaiyasate has participated in numerous research studies and contributed to peer-reviewed publications including the New England Journal of Medicine detailing advances in general and plastic surgery techniques, including breast reconstruction techniques. He has presented his research at hospitals in the Detroit area and at national plastic surgeons meetings. He is an editorial board member of European Journal of Plastic Surgery, and a quality improvement reviewer for the Smile Train foundation. His expertise has been cited in numerous local and national media outlets.
