Pankaj Tiwari, MD is a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in breast reconstruction with advanced microsurgical techniques. As head plastic surgeon for Midwest Breast & Aesthetic Surgery, his goal is to keep the best interests of his patients in mind to achieve beautiful results. Dr. Tiwari balances science and art by providing safe, long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results for the breasts, body, face and skin.
With over a decade of plastic surgery experience, Dr. Tiwari performs all types of breast reconstruction, including free flap breast reconstruction techniques using natural tissue. Performing over 200 DIEP flap surgeries each year, Dr. Tiwari also offers ResensationSM, a surgical technique designed to potentially restore sensation in the breasts of women undergoing flap breast reconstruction.
While breast reconstruction can restore the shape, size, symmetry and softness of breasts – known as the four “S’s” – reconstruction doesn’t typically focus on the fifth “S,” sensation.

Dr. Tiwari graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1995 and earned his medical degree at the New York University School of Medicine in 2000. He completed a plastic surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he received the Resident Teacher of the Year Award, followed by a fellowship in a reconstructive microvascular surgery at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2007.
At Baylor College of Medicine, he served as a clinical instructor in the Division of Plastic Surgery and was a clinical specialist at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Other previous experience includes serving as an assistant professor and attending surgeon in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Ohio State University.
Offering advanced breast reconstruction techniques
In 2013, Dr. Tiwari co-founded Midwest Breast & Aesthetic Surgery in Gahanna, Ohio, near Columbus, with Dr. Ergun Kocak. The Columbus-area practice has since expanded to include offices in Cincinnati and Dublin, Ohio, to offer greater convenience and access to clients throughout Ohio and neighboring states such as Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. In addition to the DIEP flap, Dr. Tiwari also performs the SIEA, GAP, TUG and PAP flaps, and autologous fat grafting.
Dr. Tiwari is also associate editor of BMC Cancer, a peer-reviewed cancer journal. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and two medical book chapters in Gynecologic Oncology, Clinical Practice and Surgical Atlas (2014) and In Te Linde’s Operative Gynecology (2014). He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, a diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a member of the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, and a member of the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, among other professional affiliations.
In addition to his expertise in breast reconstruction for women who have had breast cancer, he is also an expert in the treatment of lymphedema.
